Farewell to a friend
Whataburger is no more
Thu, Feb 12, 2009 (midnight)
Fast food you don’t regret, that’s what we’ll miss.
Like a lighthouse in a storm, it beckoned weary travelers off the interstate en route from Las Vegas to Phoenix and vice versa. The Kingman Whataburger, with its jalapeño fixings and overnight breakfast service, was no ordinary chain stopover. It ranked with Fatburger and In-N-Out for fast food that didn’t make you sorry 10 minutes later. And now, sadly, news arrives that it’s gone forever, another cruel victim of this unending economic downturn. Great Depression, indeed! So long, Kingman Whataburger. Your bright orange décor won’t soon be forgotten.
