Rumors to the contrary, the Farm is not closing—at least, not yet.

Over the weekend, word spread that the all-ages music venue in the southwest part of town had shut its doors (a seemingly official Twitter announcement that said, in part, “Let’s not make this the last show! Come support!” didn’t help dispel the notion). But owner Tracy Rader denies such reports, though he concedes the Farm, which opened earlier this year, is facing significant financial difficulty as a result of the economic downturn. “It was a mistaken rumor,” Rader says. “Yes, it’s a struggle, but we’re working our butts off to keep things going.”

At press time, 15 shows—beginning with this weekend’s Destruction of a Rose (Friday) and Ashbury (Saturday) bills and stretching through the end of August—remained listed on the venue’s MySpace page, myspace.com/thefarmlv, though the Farm’s phone number was no longer in service.
