Going Postal

Learn from my $273 mistake

Parking Downtown is a bitch, especially if you don’t use the big—formerly red—garage. When going to the Beauty Bar, Griffin or Downtown Cocktail Room, many folks used to park behind the post office on Sixth and Carson with no repercussions ... until now. Last Friday night, without warning, the entire lot was cleared of vehicles, including my own. So let this serve as a public service announcement, courtesy of Team Hangover: A new towing company has taken over and is stalking unsuspecting car owners to the tune of mucho dinero. Oh, and if you show up to the tow yard ridiculously inebriated (as one couple did), you won’t be springing your ride out of the pen that night, perhaps the single positive aspect of this tow-a-palooza.

Good idea to get the word out. The situation has been like that since around November. They really only tow on Fri/Sat, but everyone is spooked, that's why the lot is always empty. These days it's all about valeting at the el cortez, or parking on 6th or carson, which can result in a ticket if you stay out too late. :(
