Mmm, he could be a part-time model

Vegas DJ Rob Rob as the Beatport poster boy. Meow.

It’s about time electronic music fans who haven’t been to Denver or stolen a shirt from a DJ can get some Beatport apparel. But wait a second, that saucy boy in jeans slouching so fetchingly in their ads looks familiar… It’s Vegas’ own DJ Rob Rob!

How did the local DJ born Robert Robertson (easy to remember, eh?) end up as a part-time model? By accident. While shooting some promotional photos with Cody Boor (who you may recognize as a Hard Rock photog), Rob Rob donned a Beatport shirt for a few shots to represent the EDM industry leading music download site. Rob Rob had previously befriended Jonas Tempel, Beatport’s CEO, and happened to show him a few of the pictures without thinking much of it.

Though Tempel, Rob Rob and Boor had been kicking around the idea of using the shots for some Beatport advertising, Rob Rob didn’t get confirmation he was the new poster boy until this Weekly writer called earlier today after recognizing him in a Beatport e-mail blast.

So, is he nervous at the possibility that his image might be splashed across city buses and billboards in Miami during Winter Music Conference? “I think it’s very good publicity,” says the Vegas DJ who believes the exposure will help him get his name out there. “I’m not shy. I think it’s an awesome opportunity.”

Good choice, Beatport. We’d totally rather buy some snazzy gear from a real DJ as opposed to a hired model who’s never touched the tables. Maybe you can add some images of Rob Rob on a shirt for the ladies to buy, as well. To order your favorite EDM fan Beatport apparel for the holidays, visit Beatport's Brand Shop. And be sure to check out Rob Rob in action on December 2 for Godskitchen at Body English with Nic Fanciulli and at Drai’s on December 17 with Chris Garcia.
