Celeb Recap: KISS, Jay Leno, Stevie Wonder perform in Las Vegas
Patti Labelle, Buckcherry, Dwight Yoakam bring musical mix
Mon, Nov 30, 2009 (11:22 a.m.)
KISS onstage at The Pearl in the Palms on Nov. 28, 2009.
It wasn't the most star-studded weekend in Las Vegas, but it wasn't the worst for star-spotting, either.
Tony Romo and Miles Austin of the Dallas Cowboys were spotted, along with Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford at the Hard Rock Hotel on Friday night. The trio tried their luck on the casino floor before stopping off at Body English nightclub later that night.
Jay Leno kicked off his Las Vegas weekend on Friday with the first of a two-night stand of stand-up comedy inside the Terry Fator Theater at The Mirage. The popular late night TV personality gave a second performance on Saturday.
Renowned DJ, DJ Steve Aoki, continued Friday night’s itinerary with a set at Privé at Planet Hollywood.
Meanwhile, Patti LaBelle performed at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm.
That same venue, located inside Buffalo Bill’s Casino, played host to country singer Dwight Yoakam on Saturday, however the big ticket that night belonged to KISS and Buckcherry, who took to the stage at Pearl Theater at the Palms.
NASCAR driver Erik Darnell was also in town on Saturday, and hosted at Hawaiian Tropic Zone inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
Meanwhile, Stevie Wonder gave an hours-long concert, from about 8:30 until 11 p.m. without any interruptions, at MGM Grand.
True Blood actor Ryan Kwanten hosted his birthday party on Saturday at Lavo.
He and his friends moved things upstairs, to the nightclub, after finishing their Italian-inspired dinner and proceeded to party a little but soon moved things next door, to Tao.
The actor was there at The Venetian hot spot the night before, for both dinner in the restaurant and drinks in the club, and must have liked what he saw on Friday because as the wee hours of Saturday (OK, technically Sunday) approached, he went back for more.
Kwanten was also spotted having lunch at Dos Caminos on Saturday afternoon.
Real Housewives of Orange County vixens Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino also put in an appearance at Lavo this weekend, arriving after midnight on Saturday night (again, technically Sunday morning) with their respective companions, Slade Smiley and Jim Bellino.
Palms headliner Matt Goss and his manager, Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin, finished their weekend by judging the final round of the 2009 Miss Playboy Club competition and model search at the iconic bunny gaming and ultra lounge at the Palms. The two well-endowed and lucky ladies Goss and Antin selected will round out the 2010 Miss Playboy Club calendar.
Lastly, the Black Crowes performed on Sunday, at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay.
