September being National Bourbon Month, we will put down the frosty neon slushy drinks and, for the next four weeks, pick up a proper glass of bourbon to toast America’s native spirit. For the uninitiated—and relax, there are many—bourbon whiskey is a geographically distinctive product. Like cognac to Cognac, France, and scotch to Scotland, bourbon must be produced in the United States.
