AC/DC: Ironclad

A newly released clip from this summer’s Iron Man 2 showcases the reason Marvel and director Jon Favreau decided to make the superhero-movie’s soundtrack exclusively AC/DC-based: The title character swoops down from a plane as fireworks burst around him and AC/DC’s “Shoot to Thrill” pumps in the background. The Australian band’s forceful, driving hard rock is perfect accompaniment for this flagrant badassery. You hear an AC/DC song and you know something awesome is about to happen.

Calendar

AC/DC
April 9, 8 p.m., $94.
MGM Grand Garden Arena, 891-7777.

Rolling Stone famously quipped, in a review of AC/DC’s 1983 Flick of the Switch, that the band had “now made the same album nine times.” But they didn’t intend it as a slight back then, and AC/DC’s consistency is even more of an asset now. The Iron Man 2 soundtrack, filled with AC/DC classics, will no doubt get audiences riled up for the bombastic adventures of Tony Stark—and the band’s April 9 live performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena should be at least as explosive.
