Wyrick out, Saxe in

David Saxe will reopen the newly dubbed Saxe Theater, formerly known as the Steve Wyrick Theater, at the Miracle Mile Shops.

You can stop calling it the theater formerly known as the Steve Wyrick Theater. The Miracle Mile Shops’ $34 million, 435-seat show space will heretofore be known as the Saxe Theater and will move forward under the direction of one David Saxe.

Saxe, who started his career as a producer at age 17 with his sister’s show, Melinda — First Lady of Magic, already is well known within the Miracle Mile Shops’ halls. Saxe opened the V Theater in 2004 and recently developed the new Stripper Bar outside of the V Theater, which features easily the Strip’s largest stripper — Sin City Sindy, a 25-foot statue who’ll reign over the bar’s entrance.

Saxe’s new acquisition has been dark — or, empty with lights glaring, as it were — since Wyrick and his Real Magic show went “poof!” in December of last year. But the new operator of the 22,000-square-foot theater won’t let it stay that way for long. The Saxe Theater reportedly will reopen in June with “the first major talent-driven Las Vegas stage production in more than a decade.” Bold words from the man behind strippernormous.
