Meet George Jetson. George has Rosie, his robot maid, in a most uncompromising position. Jane, his wife, looks thoroughly irate at catching them while people are bumping and grinding on the dance floor. But that’s just how people Bang!
The industry crowd was out in full force on April 6 for the launch of Bang!, the newly revamped Tuesday night party at Moon Nightclub. An endless list of puns and sexual innuendos about the night’s name were in play: “Hey I’m going to Bang! tonight!”; “Wanna Bang!?” and “I hope he doesn’t plan to Bang! someone else!” Video loops, including the aforementioned inappropriate yet hilarious editing of The Jetsons, played behind the DJ booth at the head of the dance floor.

Incorporating retro-1950s elements and comic-book sci-fi, custom artwork banners by artist Mitch O’Connell framed the video screen with sexy, out-of-this-world pop art recalling Roy Lichtenstein’s works. Moon’s attractive staff donned new duds for the evening: perfect pin-up hairstyles and one-piece polka-dot play suits for the ladies; Bang! service workshirts and baseball caps for the guys.
With mash-up tunes provided by Benji Madden, even Holly Madison decided to go out and Bang! along with Laura Croft and Josh Strickland (we’re still not sure why the two ladies chose to wear knit cupcake hats for the night). Madden and brother Joel will take turns handling track selections on Tuesdays; with guest DJs when neither brother is in Vegas. House music from local and special-guest DJs will continue on Tuesdays in the Satellite Bar.
Plans to have performers bungee-jump from Moon’s open roof during Bang! had to be scrapped due to permits and logistics, says N9NE Group’s Jason “JRoc” Craig. But JRoc’s deafening “thunderclap” kept us entertained as always (lightning-bolt-tattoo-powered applause is way cooler than a fist pump), as did Bang!’s shimmying go-gos with their ’50s-inspired lingerie.
