“In and out in 30 minutes or less,” advertises Simon’s new power lunch (three combos for $18-$21). Let’s put it to the test.

2:17 Arrive.

Restaurant Guide

Simon
At Palms Place, 944-3292
30-minute lunch served Monday-Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

2:22 Order the Kerry Classic (turkey salad, tomato soup, sourdough grilled cheese, warm cookies).

2:26 Catch up on work e-mails (Simon offers free WiFi).

2:40 Food arrives. The soup is great, the grilled cheese fair (too much bread, not enough cheese) and the cookies awesome.

2:53 Push empty dish away. The server is behind the bar, fiddling with the computer.

3:03 Check paid, lunch done.

Verdict: 46 minutes. The meal took longer than advertised, but any faster and I would have felt rushed. Plus, I was productive, so I can report that this is an ideal power lunch.
