Spreading the (local) love at CatHouse
Longtime house-music night finds a new home

In case you didn't get the memo, Tuesday-night house music at Moon's Satellite Bar is no más as of July 27. But no need to bust out the tissues — you can now get your dose of house at CatHouse.
Local Love, a party featuring Vegas DJs—which began at Empire Ballroom and served a stint at VooDoo before joining up with Satellite Bar's already existing house night—has been dusted off again in its newest home. The scene staple's latest incarnation hopes to cater not only to the house crowd, but hip-hop fans as well, utilizing the CatHouse's two-room setup. Resident DJ Stellar spins house in the blue room, while Tommy Lin holds down the hip-hop in the red, with different guests joining every Tuesday.
"It originally started when I first got into the scene, and only certain guys got to play [in town]," says Jeff Ermilio, the night's originator. Ermilio says Local Love provided more Vegas DJs with the chance to showcase their skills.
As for Satellite Bar's three-year house-music run, resident DJ Keith Evan calls it "an accomplishment, for an amazing nightclub to have a house room go this long."
Vegas might find out just how much love locals have to give on Tuesdays. Rumor has it Vegas house DJ duo Spacebyrdz is set to launch a second local night, beginning August 24 at Crown Nightclub.
