Ho, ho, ho, get ready for Christmas with Coolio!

Mark your calendars for December 22: We’re spending Christmas with Coolio! The new Wednesday night party at Crown, called “107.9 presents…,” kicks off December 15 with Jerry Casale of Devo. The weekly event will feature DJ sets by “some of alternative music’s most notable names.” Okay, we’re not really sure how a dude from Devo and Coolio fit that description, but it should still be a good time. –Deanna Rilling

There aren’t nearly enough caves in Vegas. Even fewer stocked with vintage vino. Restaurant and nightlife guru Michael Morton teams up with Steve Wynn for La Cave, a wine and food destination opening December 3 at Wynn Las Vegas. Featuring an extensive selection of the grapey stuff, along with fine spirits and handcrafted beers, La Cave resembles its namesake, with a low, convex, plaster ceiling and an interior designed by 555 International (the firm behind Playboy Club, N9NE Steakhouse, Nove Italiano and Moon Nightclub). The new wine bar encompasses approximately 4,000 square feet with three separate environments: the appropriately dubbed Cave, the main dining room past ornate metal gates and the Garden Room, a living-room-like space perfect for an afternoon of wine and cheese. La Cave will open daily at 11 a.m. for lunch, dinner and late-night dining seven days a week. –D.R.

You still can’t officially call it a barcade (damned copyrights!), but the planned bar and arcade Insert Coins now has a home. Owner Christopher La Porte has snagged a spot in the Fremont East District, right next to Vanguard Lounge. The soonest the venture will open is April, but it’s never too early to start to collecting quarters and staring longingly at the “coming soon” sign. –April Corbin

When we look back at the year in mixology, one trend comes to mind: Figure friendly. Apparently we like our libations heavy on the booze but light on the calories. Add another one to the waist-conscious queue with Hussong’s Skinny Margarita. At 140 calories, the beverage is concocted with Don Julio Reposado Blue Agave tequila, aloe juice, triple sec, Agave nectar and fresh lime juice. The Skinny Margarita is available in tasty traditional, along with mango, guava and pomegranate. Or you could just blow the diet altogether and go for the new 48-ounce Romance Margarita for two. –D.R.
