A Christmas Story’s official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock probably wasn’t in the mix, but there sure are a lot of children’s holiday wishes coming true this year thanks to the team at XS and Tryst. The nightclubs broke records on December 8, when club staffers purchased more than $106,000 in toys and gifts at Walmart and took them, caravan-style—Metro cruisers, a CCFD truck, two semi trucks and nearly 60 employee cars—to the NV Energy Building for the KLUC 98.5 FM Toy Drive. All donations benefit the nonprofit HELP of Southern Nevada, assisting children and families in need. –Deanna Rilling
Friday nights just got younger. That’s right, Krave’s F%@k You, I’m Fabulous party goes 18+ starting December 17. The gay nightlife venue will block off the bar areas, leaving the dance floor and VIP seating open to the underage crowd. And if adolescent eye candy isn’t persuasive enough, the Friday fête also includes 18 go-gos, aerialists and a performance by Derrick Barry as Lady Gaga. Now, our only question: What do you call a male cougar? –Mark Adams
Know anyone with a day named after him? Councilman Steve Ross and former Mayor Pro Tem Michael J. McDonald have proclaimed December 23 “DJ Hollywood Day.” The DJ, born Leandro Vlastaris Jr., becomes only the second Vegas-based DJ to receive such an honor (The first? DJ Frankie Anobile, in 2000). “Normally the ceremonies are done Downtown, but I suggested we do it inside a club and they loved it,” Hollywood says. The proclamation will take place at 8:30 p.m. inside Gold Lounge and will be followed by—what else?—an afterparty at Haze. Hey, Mayor Goodman, if they offer an open Bombay Sapphire bar, might you attend, too? –DR
Partying with gays gets bigger and better in Vegas! Known for the successful Closet Sundays at Revolution and Heaven at Bare, Eduardo Cordova Presents will take over Jet once a month for Sundanze. Launching January 2 with Kelly Rowland performing and a set by DJ Tracy Young, the night will also feature special performances direct from Pacha—and some of the sexiest go-gos around. But don’t worry, Closet Sundays isn’t going anywhere; the more intimate party will just take the night off when Sundanze is in full-swing. –DR
