Given that Hanukkah ended in early December, it’s natural for Jews to worry about how they can kill time as the clock runs out on 2010, especially with so many nightclubs going dark this time of year.

The local Jewish singles community need not fret. On December 23, the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada will present its 16th annual Bagel Ball. The self-proclaimed “largest gathering of Nevada Jewish singles” takes place at Blush Boutique Nightclub, where a ticket gets you complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for two hours—and the opportunity to help a worthy cause. Prizes will be raffled, with proceeds benefiting the Jewish Family Service Agency’s food pantry.
The festivities continue on Christmas Eve, when Blue Martini opens its doors for the 24th annual Matzo Ball. Las Vegas is one of just 10 North American cities sponsoring the social-networking event, presented by the Society of Young Jewish Professionals, JDate, Sleek Medspa and Yelp. While enjoying live entertainment, attendees will receive a free cocktail and appetizers.
Now, how do you say “party on” in Hebrew?
