Music websites you really should be frequenting

Largehearted Boy (blog.largeheartedboy.com)

The tastemaking music/book blog (named for a Guided By Voices song, in case you’re wondering) is almost as dense and complex as Robert Pollard’s body of work. LB compiles daily links to interesting articles and free mp3 downloads; weekly features include author interviews, book reviews and links to legitimate album streams. Smart and informative—and dangerous to the wallet. –Annie Zaleski

Daytrotter (daytrotter.com)

You want free music? Daytrotter’s got tons, in the form of daily, exclusive in-studio sessions by artists ranging from Blitzen Trapper to Bob Mould, Deerhoof to Dinosaur Jr. Best of all, virtually every song contributed to the site has been archived, and can be streamed or downloaded (free!) with relatively little effort. So clear out some hard-drive space and start acquiring—without worrying if that RIAA rep in the van down the block might be “watching.” –Spencer Patterson

Vidro Azul (vidroazulruc.blogspot.com)

Left to myself, which I prefer, my musical taste tends toward the melancholic and ambient, which somehow led me to this somnambulant haven, a weekly podcast from Brazil. The title translates from the Portuguese as “Blue Window,” which crystallizes the outlook and taste of murmuring narrator Ricardo Mariano, who curates two hours of lovely, blue-toned, neo-alt-folk-pop-ambient borderless dream states from the likes of Jónsi & Alex, Gareth Dickson, Alcoholic Faith Mission and Teruyuki Nobuchika, to name-check just a few from a recent transmission. –Joe Brown

Good call on Largehearted Boy. They've been consistently fantastic for years. One of my faves.
