2101 N. Rainbow Blvd., 631-5988. Daily, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

You can’t go wrong with Hawaiian plate lunch. Even if it isn’t the most delicious island-style food you’ve tasted, you’ll always be full. At Aloha A Go Go, the plate lunch is pretty standard: two scoops of steamed white rice, one scoop of mayonnaise-y macaroni salad, a coupla forkfuls of tender veggies and the proteins of your choice. The Kalua Pork—slightly smoky, shredded meat—is above average here, and it’s a personal favorite. I paired it with a couple of pieces of delicately fried mahi mahi, and it proved to be a devastatingly filling combo.

Other meaty options include barbecue short ribs, ridiculously crispy chicken Katsu, and the gravy-covered hamburger known as Loco Moco. Aloha A Go Go serves quite a bit of Chinese food, too. You know it’s all over the place when there’s a section of the menu labeled Chili & Curry. Sounds strange, but the food is delicious.
