PMG, PCD part ways; HTZ closes

After a nearly five-year partnership, Pure Management Group announced last week that it would be closing the Pussycat Dolls Lounge effective February 27. According to a release by PMG reps, “The Pussycat Dolls Lounge site will become PMG’s newest innovation in nightlife, a venue where music and technology will intersect. The yet-to-be-announced concept is scheduled to open in May 2010.”

Since its inception, celebrity “guest dolls” such as Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Jessica Simpson, Audrina Partridge and Kim Kardashian have each taken a turn in the iconic champagne cup at the center of the Lounge; the Pussycat Dolls Casino—which Caesars reps say will remain—brought the magic outside the club to the gaming floor. “After an amazing run,” says PMG COO Deborah Krause, “Pure Management Group has decided to close the Pussycat Dolls Lounge. We wish Robin Antin and the Las Vegas Pussycat Dolls the very best.”

Luxe Life’s Robin Leach confirmed that Antin and her gals are destined for a similarly sized new Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Chateau, a three-story club by the creators of the Sugar Factory going into the former Risqué space at the Paris Hotel. The Weekly hears that the club will comprise the existing space over a mega-Sugar Factory store and restaurant as well as an extended balcony overlooking the Strip, a glass elevator and a rooftop patio roughly twice the size of that at Pure. Sources say Chateau could open on New Year’s Eve at the very earliest.

Meanwhile, next door at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops, Hawaiian Tropic Zone announced its closure just four days before the February 20 grand-closing party. This was almost immediately followed by the announcement of the imminent arrival of PBR Rock Bar, a restaurant and bar concept helmed by Jonathan Fine of Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub. Fine reports that we can expect a spring arrival for PBR—an April preview, a June soft-opening and a Fourth of July weekend grand opening.
