With ‘Nailin’ Paylin,’ porn takes on politics
Industry vet Lisa Ann plays the former VP candidate
Sat, Jan 9, 2010 (2:10 p.m.)
As Serra Palin, porn star Lisa Ann took the politician closer to Russia than she ever dreamed.
When was the last time you read a movie title that made you laugh out loud?
The Hangover? Nah. Youth in Revolt? Not funny. JCVD? OK, that one's got some pizazz. Porno titles, on the other hand, are often such tongue-in-cheek knee-slappers that the industry's Oscars equivalent, the annual AVN Awards being held tonight at the Pearl, even have a category dedicated to the best titles in the biz. Clever Title of the Year, they call it. Alliterations, rhyming or references to mainstream pop culture are good bets. If they're consciously cheesy, even better.
Last year's winner was Strollin' in the Colon, but this year's award-winning title may be more political than anatomical.

Four of the category's 15 nominees make references to politicians or political topics. There's Barrack's Big Stimulus Package, The War on a Rack (say it fast if you're not getting it) and Cash for Chunkers. Lastly, the closest thing to a porno household name from this year's crop, Larry Flynt's Who's Nailin' Paylin?.
"I loved the title," said porn star and adult film talent agent Lisa Ann of the movie in which she plays Serra Paylin, an Alaskan bombshell who gets closer to Russia — or a few Russians, at least — than the former vice-presidential candidate ever intended. The film, as anyone familiar with the success of the other Palin and her antics might guess, was somewhat of a crossover hit. The porno even gained mention in a variety of mainstream media outlets, and with a combined eight nominations, Lisa Ann and Who's Nailin' Paylin? have fared far better than her doppelganger within her chosen profession.
As for Lisa Ann's feelings towards the bespectacled former governor, they're shades of gray. "I'm a fan," said Lisa Ann of the real Sarah Palin, "because she made me very popular." But, she adds, "I wouldn't necessarily vote for her."
Aw shucks. Ain't that the truth.
