Mash-Up
Sake-oke-dokey!
Wed, Jan 20, 2010 (6:31 p.m.)
Forget American Idol. SushiSamba at the Palazzo will give Simon Cowell a run for his money with its “Sake-oke Superstar” competition. Wednesday nights (9 p.m. to 4 a.m.) from now through May 2 in the Sugarcane Lounge, brave souls can sing karaoke for a chance to win a trip to any of the SushiSamba locations, including airfare and a night’s stay in a hotel. All performances are being uploaded to YouTube, and in true democratic fashion, the singer with the most votes wins. But talented or no, entrants get a complimentary cocktail just for singing. Quieter souls can still imbibe—sake bottles are marked down 20 percent.
