Not enough liberal arts education. Everything’s economic in our worldview; what we really need is a better understanding of cultures and people. So says University of Chicago philosopher Martha Nussbaum, who will speak at UNLV in a presentation called "Not for Profit: Liberal Education and Democratic Citizenship."
Nussbaum is the author of several books, including Cultivating Humanity: A Classical Defense of Reform in Liberal Education, and a scholar of everything from Greek philosophy to feminism. Expect Nussbaum to weave something brilliant from her brain and pass it on to yours—for free! Now that’s liberal education.
