"You stealing our recipe?" the waitress at Fanny's Bistro quipped when she saw me writing down the details of the Chicken Waldorf Salad Sandwich. She was joking, of course, but I can't blame her for asking. There's nothing scientific about this concoction—chicken, apples, cashews and celery in a mayonnaise mix, served on your bread of choice (I chose rye) with mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato. But the way those ingredients are combined ... oh, man. This sandwich wants for nothing, which is more than I can say for my dining partners, who looked longingly at the uneaten half while I growled at them for even thinking about it.
