Walk on the wild side with Vince Neil?

Considering he’s the voice behind “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Dr. Feelgood” I thought for sure the opening of Vince Neil’s new club, Tres Rios Cantina, would get a little wild. I figured the scene at his place inside the Las Vegas Hilton would be set to a soundtrack of Mötley Crüe ballads, with a focus on some of Neil’s current interests—tequila and tattoos—and last until the sun came up.

But as I made my way in at 10 p.m., just when the Vegas nightlife scene typically gets going, this party was ending. Sadly I had missed not only Neil in the flesh, but the festivities as well.

“You missed some event,” the lady sitting next to me at the bar said as she enjoyed the second of Tres Rios Cantina’s two daily happy hours (2-5 p.m. and 9-11 p.m.). “Vince was sitting right there.” She pointed to a table a few feet away. “Just answering questions and talking about his new book. Just having a good time.”

I ordered the Feelgood Rita—all tequila and definitely rock and roll—and my barmates and I toasted to Vince and his new ventures. “Vince is the fucking shit,” yelled another person at the bar, who looked like he could have once been in Motley Crüe.

I was totally bummed. Living in a 24-hour city makes you forget that sometimes, even rock stars have bedtimes.
