“Shhhh!” That’s what Whigs’ bassist Tim Deaux, standing in the crowd, said to folks trying to pester him about after-show plans during the last song of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s two-hour set. Following the Whigs’ opening performance, BRMC rocked the cramped club, inviting a sing-along on “Shuffle Your Feet” and building energy to a climax before slowing things down for a muted closer that read like a lullaby. Chatter picked up as the band picked through its final bars, but Deaux waved off all conversation, pointed to the band and, with a smile, watched them take it home.
Wasted Space
Hard Rock's new "anti-club" Wasted Space, owned by star motocross star Carey Hart, is a celebration of decadent rock 'n' roll culture. Carey added welcome laid-back touches like the casual dress code and coed bathrooms. Live rock bands visit every weekend and it's also a great place to head for afterhours partying after catching a concert at the Joint or Hard Rock poolside. The venue has already become the place of choice for the cool crowd the Hard Rock always attracts.
