Cap’n Crunch French Toast is the type of dish whose name alone can elicit squeals of delight, but here are the details anyway: Served at Beach Café in Southwest Las Vegas, the dish takes those sweetened corn-and-oat squares you remember fondly from your childhood (or your current kitchen cabinet, if you’re me), deep fries them and crumbles them onto some thick pieces of Texas French Toast, topped lovingly with whipped cream and fruit.

It’s a delicious novelty, currently offered only as one of Beach Café’s rotating specialty items (the lobster melt is another), but owner Robyn Bradley promises the Cap’n is being added to the menu permanently within the next month or so. In the meantime, you can still visit the charming neighborhood restaurant and ask nicely for it. The staff will oblige. Oh, and they’ll ask you how your day is, learn your name and remember you on your next visit. It’s that kind of place.
