The highlight of last year’s Epicurean Affair at the Flamingo Pool wasn’t the abundance of delicious food, the freely flowing cocktails or the stylish crowd of out-and-about locals. For me, the evening’s best part was bumping into a soaked Strip chef who’d been pushed into the pool by a fellow culinary name. He was clutching a sad-looking cell phone and, well, dripping. And he was having a blast. That’s the beauty of the annual Las Vegas food festival: Not only will many of the city’s best restaurants—including Guy Savoy, Jasmine and Cut—serve up well-crafted nibbles at the Palazzo pool on September 9, but their chefs will emerge from the kitchen to chat with guests, perhaps partake in a beverage or two and maybe, just maybe, end up sopping wet with a wide smile. Enjoy the party and, if you see a wet chef, offer up a napkin.
