When the doors to the Las Vegas Hilton Theater open at 9 a.m. Sunday, the line will be about 500 deep. “It’s like Christmas Eve,” says sports book director Jay Kornegay. And when the 10 a.m. games kick off—10 games starting within 30 seconds of each other—a huge cheer is sure to erupt from the 1,500-seat room. “That’s Christmas morning,” Kornegay says. The Hilton shows every morning and afternoon game on 11 screens, offering $1 hot dogs and breakfast sandwiches and $2 Buds. The atmosphere is smoke-free, the admission is free, and you can even place wagers at betting stations in the theater lobby. Some would call this the opening of the NFL season in Vegas. Others would call it … heaven.
