Exhibit to benefit the Red Cross relief efforts in Japan
Wed, Apr 27, 2011 (5:35 p.m.)
Blackbird Studios presents an exhibit to benefit aid efforts in Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami tragedies.
Calendar
- Japan'd Aid
- April 30, 4 p.m., free.
- Blackbird Studios
- 1551 S. Commerce Street
When an Earthquake devastated Haiti last year, artists at Gina Quaranto’s Place Gallery held a fundraiser, raising $1,600. With Japan still suffering from quakes and the effects of March’s tsunami, Quaranto is at it again with Japan’d Aid, a Blackbird Studios group exhibition that aims to raise funds for Red Cross assistance. The live painting and silent auction will include work by local artists, some of whom played off the Japan aesthetic. Artists include KD Mathison, Danny Roberts, Amber Gardner, Three Bad Sheep, James Henninger, Jska Priebe, Christina Paulos, and Quaranto. Expect renditions of Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu, Godzilla and more.
