Spike & Mike’s Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation has been touring the country since 1990, bringing weird, gross, surreal and darkly funny animated short films to audiences in various cities, but almost never to Vegas. It’s been years since we had a dose of the Sick & Twisted here, but this year the festival will finally return, with its program showing six times over the course of the weekend at the Sci Fi Center.

The grindhouse atmosphere at the Center is perfect for Sick & Twisted cartoons like The Toke Before Christmas (which features a pothead Santa) and From Hero to Eternity (which involves violence among cuddly woodland animals). And if enough animation fans show up for the fun, maybe Spike & Mike will bring their festival back again next year, instead of waiting for who knows how long.
