The alternative nightclub recently underwent some significant renovations and more revamping has already been planned.

A boutique nightclub opened recently, but chances are you didn’t hear anything about it.

That’s because Piranha Nightclub, already a gay staple in the city’s “Fruit Loop,” has reemerged after undergoing significant renovations as Piranha Boutique Nightclub.

The Details

Piranha and 8 1/2

Marketing and Promotions Director Ducky Slaughter said the venue has added lighted tables, banquettes and new chandelier fixtures to give “more of a luxurious and opulent feel to the club.” The dancefloor on the club’s 8 1/2 side has been completely redone with faux-crocodile tile imported from Italy, and new patio cabanas give an outdoor option to bottle service guests.

Slaughter explained that the overhaul is an effort to better compete with the numerous mainstream nightclubs and lounges around town. The crew at Piranha also wanted to give gay tourists the opportunity to go to a nightclub that “feels like a Las Vegas nightclub, with all of the luxury, and still be in a gay-friendly area.”
