The Internet launched the career of Justin Bieber and made Antoine Dodson a household name. Now Bieber's set to be the subject of a feature-length biopic (in 3D!), and Dodson's rapping about bedroom intruders before paying audiences.
You could be the next great talent discovered online. Rapper/comedian Nick Cannon (of Drumline and Mr. Mariah Carey fame) will select an amateur to be his opener during two standup shows March 5 at the Palms. Aspiring comedians are asked to submit audition videos at AuditionBooth.com by 9 p.m. February 15. The winner will receive roundtrip airfare for two, a two-night stay at the Palms and, of course, a potential launchpad.
"This is the type of opportunity that every up-and-coming entertainer wishes for," Cannon said, referring to the venue's 2,500-seat capacity.
Although Cannon has the final call, the public is encouraged to influence his decision by voting on the site website through February 25. Tickets for the pair of Cannon shows, which begin at 8 and 11 p.m., are $15 and can be purchased at the Pearl box office or at Ticketmaster.com.
