Nightlife news & notes: Celebs at Tiesto, Playground’s new nightclub and more
Tue, Feb 8, 2011 (5:30 p.m.)
Celebs flocked to the Joint this past weekend to watch the Dutch DJ do his thing.
It’s full speed ahead for DJ Tiesto’s yearlong residency at the Joint. It was jam-packed New Year’s Day, and it was a near sellout Saturday night, too (general admission tickets were sold out; a few third-level seats were available). In the house: Audrina Patridge, Rob Kardashian Jr. and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, who fist-pumped (seriously) the night away in his second-level suite.
Congratulations to Tryst twice over for being named Las Vegas Nightclub of the Year by the Nightclub & Bar Awards and for its fifth anniversary. “After five thriving years of business, it’s great to see that we are still recognized as one of the best spots in town,” Tryst Managing Partner Jesse Waits told the Weekly. “First and foremost, the level of service at our venues sets us apart from competitors. We want each and every visitor to feel like they’re receiving A-list celebrity treatment when they walk through our doors.” Interestingly, XS, dominant last year, received no nods this year.
There are plenty of reasons to dig the Cosmopolitan, but the parking situation on weekends isn’t one of them. Valet is for guests only. In the underground parking lot spots are tight and lanes narrow. And one of the exit lanes (turning right onto Harmon) was inexplicably closed this past weekend, creating one hot mess of a traffic jam for everyone. Aggravating. When you come to party, make sure to leave some extra time to park.
No, the Beckhams aren’t opening up a Vegas night spot. Posh Boutique Nightclub is coming to the adult nightlife wonderland Playground in March. The 3,500-square-foot club will feature body-painted go-go dancers, peepshow girls and deejays spinning mash-ups of house, Top 40 and R&B.
Slip on the sexy heels and grab the girls! It’s local ladies’ night at Chef Geno Bernardo’s Nove Italiano every Tuesday in February. The Palms eatery is offering local females 50 percent off the entire bill, including wine by the glass and specialty cocktails. Local ladies’ night at Nove also includes complimentary VIP access to Playboy Club and Ghostbar. I’d slip on heels for 50 percent off.
