Congratulations to Afrojack, resident DJ at XS, on his Grammy win for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, for his collaboration with DJ David Guetta on Madonna’s “Revolver.” Usher, who recorded his latest album, Raymond v. Raymond, at the Studio at the Palms, was a Grammy winner, too.
Mark your calendars: Encore Beach Club announced this week that it’s opening for business on April 16. Season 2’s weekly events include Play in International Waters on Sundays, Industry Beach on Mondays, Dip and Dance on Thursday nights, Recess Fridays and live performances on Saturdays. DJ Calvin Harris debuts Easter Sunday (April 23), and DJ Kaskade returns May 1.
And in Las Vegas’ continuing love affair between nightlife and celebrities, Chord Overstreet (Glee’s Sam) celebrates his birthday at Tao on February 19, while across the way, San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker hosts the Baller’s Ball at Lavo. Mark Salling, Dianna Agron and Harry Shum Jr. are scheduled to join Overstreet. Who’s in town more these days, the cast of Jersey Shore or Glee?! —Don Chareunsy
House music continues its quest for Vegas domination with the announcement of LAX’s latest DJ residency—Grammy-winner Sharam. Launching February 23, Destination Sharam will feature a car-racing theme in a nod to the DJ’s interest in high-speed vehicles, as well as a newly renovated DJ booth upgraded especially for the new night. Fasten your seatbelt, it’s going to be a wild ride. —Sarah Feldberg
