Nightlife news & notes: Deadmau5 at XS, bacon cocktails and more

A few details about the new Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon and Gallery opening at Planet Hollywood per Mr. Vegasdeluxe.com, Robin Leach: The 17,500-square-foot Gallery will fuse vintage gothic design with contemporary touches, among them 3D photographs, voyeuristic fashions, acrobats and candlelit glass fireplaces. The burlesque saloon will bring the PCD into an interactive 4,500-square-foot venue, with bartenders pouring shots and climbing on the bar for impromptu performances. The new team of Dolls will strut its stuff in front of rhinestones spelling out D-O-L-L-S behind the bar.

While snacking at I Love Burgers at the Palazzo last week, I sampled mixologist Myke Ramos’ I Love Blood Mary with a brilliant garnish: a crispy slice of bacon. The cocktail was spicy, savory and ba-con-y. Delicious? Sure. But that’s not the only place your bloody comes with crispy pig. There’s a similar concoction at Hash House a Go Go, the newest location of which can be found at the M Resort.

Last Sunday night, Vanity was home to Master Swordsman, a competition which bribed gents to bring the most ladies to the nightclub with a grand prize of $5,000. Nevada Stupak—son of casino owner Bob Stupak—was the biggest player in the crowd and won not only the giant check but also an equally enormous sword. His entourage of 240, among them former Miss Nevada Katie Rees, won him the title. Do I even know 240 people in Las Vegas? Doubtful.

Congratulations to XS on its second anniversary. The club celebrated Monday with Deadmau5, who hit the stage shortly after midnight in a glimmering platinum version of his mau5 headpiece and played til nearly 5 a.m. Local celebs Holly Madison, Angel Porrino, Laura Croft and Zak Bagans joined the party, and Managing Partner Jesse Waits was presented with a mau5-shaped cake.
