Filmmaking at pretty much every level is still dominated by men, and horror filmmaking more so than other genres. The Los Angeles-based Viscera Film Festival provides an alternative, with an annual showcase for horror short films directed by women. The Viscera organization has been working since 2007 to encourage women filmmakers in the horror genre, and this year its tour is coming to Vegas for the first time, with two nights of movies at Theatre 7. The Vegas showcase will include Mary Jane Go Round by local filmmaker Ginnetta Corelli, along with movies with titles like Barbee Butcher, Blood Bunny and I Was a Tranny Werewolf. It promises a bloody good time for horror fans of any gender.
