Midnight ramblings from a terrible Rolling Stones tribute

Friday’s Rolling Stones tribute show at the Bunkhouse, “Exile on Fremont Street,” fell somewhere between a rock and a hard place. Getting together to pay homage to the classic rockers, a slew of local musicians brought in a solid crowd to hear their favorite Stones covers. But forgotten words at a tribute event? That should never be an issue. Aaron Archer and Spencer Burton kicked off the night with “The Last Time,” and Archer, an avid Stones fan, joined Quint & The Cowpunk Calamity for a true-to-the-book version of “Dead Flowers” before Dude City, headed by event organizer Jack Johnson, hit the stage. It was discouraging to see the guys forget the words to “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” not once but twice, then scream the chorus into a mic already turned up too high. No sympathy or brown sugar here—the only guy I’d want to hear sing it that loud is Mick Jagger himself.
