Five things I wrote in my notebook at Red Bull’s Soundclash

•1. The Ting Tings bring a ton of energy to the stage. These Brits really know how to rock.

•2. The “Takeover” round is inherently interesting. Hearing Cee Lo finish The Ting Ting’s “Fruit Machine” is cool, but I really wish they would throw Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” at the indie-pop duo.

•3. I have never, ever seen so many people drink vodka-Red Bulls. LMFAO would be proud.

•4. Along with an interesting clash of music, this event brought out a unique clash of clothing. I’m diggin’ Katie White’s ode to Americana (a UCLA varsity jacket and cheerleader uniform), and kudos to the Russell Brand look-alike in skin-tight leopard-print pants.

•5. “Fuck you!” After Glee and the Grammys, what else could this show end with? The battling performers join each other onstage to wrap up the event up with Cee Lo’s megahit to the enjoyment of the jumping and fist-pumping crowd.
