The number of people I call friends has mysteriously and exponentially blossomed since I started writing about going out to eat. Imagine that.
A couple of my very favorite culinary companions, Rob and Lisa, stayed on me for months about trying their tiny neighborhood cafe, isolated in the sprawl of suburbia and an industrial/office park in southwest Vegas. It’s the breakfast tacos, they said, you gotta try ’em.
Those breakfast tacos aren’t even on the menu at the Beach Cafe, but they are available and awesome, scrambled eggs with cheese, potatoes and salsa, and served with tortilla chips and beans. This the perfect place to take it easy (or nurse a hangover) as the staff is super-friendly and the food is simple and tasty, from blueberry pancakes to burgers. Another morning winner is the sourdough egg sandwich, on nicely grilled, tangy bread with crispy bacon and pepper jack cheese.
Las Vegas Weekly’s Brock Radke will eat wherever you tell him to eat. Send him on his next mission at foodcritic@lasvegasweekly.com.
