The College of Southern Nevada’s Performing Arts Center is all about big sound and a new approach to movement in a bonanza of music and dance events May 6-12. Called Modern Romance, the annual Spring Dance Concert May 6-7 will celebrate the CSN dance program’s 15th anniversary and feature the CSN Dance Ensemble, the Concert Dance Company and the Nevada Repertory Dance Theatre. CSN’s jazz combos and singers explore standards and classics alike in an afternoon of jazz May 8. Link TextThe school’s Orchestra and Chamber Choir will honor great works by Tchaikovsky, Duparc, Mozart and Faure May 9, while the Concert Band explores 20th century bandmasters such as Ron Nelson and Samuel Barber May 10. Assisted by the Green Valley High School Ensemble, the CSN Big Band pays tribute to the era of swing May 11, and the annual Spring Choral Concert brings together the sounds of CSN’s Chamber Chorale, Jazz Singers and voice students May 12. That’s a foot-long sandwich of culture, people (and much better for you)
