Best late-night dining: Raku

Great at any hour, after midnight the place is packed with those ready to worship at the altar of Chef Mitsuo Endo. It’s the best time to try something crazy, like charcoal grilled beef tendon or a bowl of sea urchin with poached egg and salmon roe. 5030 W. Spring Mountain Road. Mon.-Sat., 6 p.m.-3 a.m. 367-3511.
Raku
If you haven’t had this type of cuisine before, you’re going to be surprised and delighted. Raku’s menu has about 75 dishes, and there are specials written in English on a small blackboard by the counter. Unlike many Japanese restaurants in, say, Los Angeles or San Francisco, this menu doesn’t hide any of the overly ethnic fare in Japanese script. The menu here is 100 percent bilingual. Brock Radke, Las Vegas Weekly restaurant reviewer, named it to the No. 2 spot on his list of 20 most important restaurants in Las Vegas.
