Readers revisit Halloween at the Paranormal Ball
Wed, Nov 9, 2011 (3:23 p.m.)
Halloween wrapped up awhile ago, but that didn’t stop Vegas Valley Book Festival author Brodi Ashton from throwing a Paranormal Ball last weekend. The event gave Young Adult readers the chance to mingle with their favorite Young Adult authors … in costume.
Witches and dark angels were the most popular outfits. Partially because every single kid in attendance was a girl. Boys: Have we learned nothing from the Saved by the Bell episode in which Zack takes Home Ec? If you want to get the girl, you have to go where the girls are.
What kept the boys away? The fact that it was a dance? Or do boys simply not read? Or do they not read paranormal fiction?
The girls didn’t do the Monster Mash, but they did do the Electric Slide and the Cha Cha Slide. Then somebody requested the “Party Rock Anthem.” Judging by the girl who went into the dance circle first, the future of shufflin’ is strong.
