Thinking about UNLV football, dog names and more

Just duh facts

A new study has revealed that not only are processed foods unhealthy, they’re also addictive. Gee, and all this time I thought I ate whole bags of potato chips in one sitting just because they’re so delicious. —Ken Miller, associate editor

Fickle fans

UNLV’s homecoming game against No. 5 Boise State was one of the best they’ve played (as in, they scored a few times), and the Rebel crowd still left before the end of the third quarter. Weak sauce. —Erin Ryan, staff writer

Letter imperfect

The new Belvedere Vodka ads are pretty darn similar to our Criss Angel billboards. Angel billboards: BeLIEve; Belvedere Vodka ads: BELieVE. Unlikely partnership or lawsuit? This one could go either way. —Rick Lax, staff writer

Puppy love

After rejecting Herman Cain, Con Queso and Teak as potential names for our new puppy, we settled on Samba—jazzy, sweet and a little bit spicy. And easier to yell at the dog park than Haloti Ngata. —Sarah Feldberg, editor

Cook on the course

Playing 18 holes at Southern Highlands Golf Course. Hoping to get my first hole in one. —Geno Bernardo, executive chef, Nove Italiano
