Don’t be intimidated. It sounds like ridiculous shopping advice. After all, what is there to be scared of at most stores except the price tag? But intimidation is what keeps lots of Las Vegans from ever exploring World Market Center’s giant, windowless Downtown buildings and from ever discovering the stylish showrooms of the Las Vegas Design Center.

Well, if there was ever a time to shrug off those reservations and grab your wallet, the time is now—specifically, November 11-12 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. when LVDC’s fall sale opens to the public.

Usually, the LVDC caters mostly to designers and retailers, who stock up on everything from furniture to art to floor coverings at the dozens of showrooms that offer their wares for 20-70 percent below retail price. While the public is always welcome to browse, to purchase they need to go through a designer, a handful of whom are available onsite for free consultations and buying assistance. But as the LVDC prepares for its January Market—an annual industry event that brings thousands to Las Vegas—showrooms like Palecek, Four Hands, Studio A and Leftbank Art are marking items down even further and clearing room for the new sofas, chandeliers and chaises that will entice Market buyers. That means serious deals on some pretty swank designs.

The trade preview wrapped up Thursday, so Friday and Saturday belong to us Average Janes and Joes, with discounts of up to 70 percent on already wholesale prices. Go, shop, save. And if anyone looks at you like you don’t belong, just tell 'em the Weekly sent you.
