Say goodbye to Sloppi Jo’s Roving Eatery (but not Jo)

The Sloppi Jo’s food truck has been sold and will be shipped out of town October 13, but you can still get a few more bites.
Amid the herd of food trucks that has taken to Valley streets in the last year, few have captured the public’s attention and appetite more than Jolene “Jo” Manning’s Sloppi Jo’s. But alas, all tasty, chile-infused flights of flavor must come to an end.
“It’s going to be shipped out of town on the 13th,” says Jolene of her bright yellow truck, scheduled to make its final stops on Fremont East for First Friday and Saturday night at Tommy Rocker’s. “I’m definitely going to shed some tears when it leaves.”
But Jolene isn’t going anywhere. The skilled southwestern cook will still run the show at Tommy Rocker’s for the Saturday Night Truck Stop, and may whip up a dish or two using the host restaurant’s kitchen. And Jolene says she’s got an eye on opening up a place of her own Downtown.
In the meantime, though, you can take home her key ingredient. “I’m stocked with chiles. I have enough for the whole year,” she laughs. “Saturday night, if people spend $20, I’m going to give them a bag of chiles.” Truck definitely sold separately.
