Beauty Bar, 598-1965

Shellac rarely tours, almost never comes West and seems like the last band in the world that might play Las Vegas. Its LA shows on the 20th and 21st are long since sold out. In other words, you should already be going. In case you're not, check the video slideshow below for some more quick convincing ...

Note: The show, originally scheduled for the Bunkhouse, has been relocated to Beauty Bar.

Nirvana: 'Milk It'

1. Singer/guitarist Steve Albini engineered (don’t say produced ...) all your favorite records, including Nirvana’s In Utero, the Pixies’ Surfer Rosa, PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me and Joanna Newsom’s Ys.

Mission of Burma: 'Donna Sumeria'

2. Bassist Bob Weston is a damn fine studio man in his own right, having worked with the Archers of Loaf, Polvo and Harvey Milk, among others. He’s produced the last three Mission of Burma albums, and served as live engineer for the reunited Boston band. He also likes wearing orange pants in public.

Shellac: Drum solo

3. Drummer Todd Trainer seems more animal than man when he’s hammering away at his kit.

Shellac: Q&A

4. Between songs, they often take questions from the audience.

Shellac: Watch Song/Spoke

5. Because they’re Shellac, and they don’t need fancy lights or sparkly guitars to rock harder than every other band you’ve seen—put together.
