PBR Rock Bar is still kickin’ after a good year on the Strip

PBR Rock Bar celebrated its first year of business with a blow-out bash hosted by a pair of Professional Bull Riders.
September 1 marked the one-year anniversary of Planet Hollywood’s PBR Rock Bar, and the Weekly-sponsored party was packed with revelers enjoying hot food, cold drinks and the company of Professional Bull Riders Luke Snyder and Douglas Duncan. Considering how tough times have been for Strip businesses, it was great to see one celebrating a milestone (along with the birthday of Jack Daniel’s founder). How has the Rock Bar survived? Here are a few theories:
•1. The motto is: A little bit country, but mostly rock ’n’ roll. Like Neil Young, it appeals to everyone.
•2. The interior space includes four bars, so you’re never stuck waiting on one bartender (though they all make mean whiskey sours).
•3. The patio is literally on the Strip.
•4. Throughout the bar there are more than 100 televisions.
•5. Head chef Yvonne Maatouk has a lock on the concept of “classic American fare with a twist,” and the relatable menu is also affordable.
•6. The bar is named after elite athletes who willingly strap themselves to Volkswagen-sized hunks of angry beef.
•7. Nothing is more fun than watching tipsy people hug the mechanical bull.
•8. Except maybe watching replays on the Rock Bar’s Facebook “Buck of the Day.”
•9. Did we mention the tire swings hanging from the ceiling?
•10. Did we also mention the servers wearing peek-a-boo chaps?
