Arden Myrin: Straight outta Little Compton

Image

Ever seen one of those fake Wikipedia pages that walks the line between totally absurd and believable enough that you keep reading beyond the first few lines? Arden Myrin’s is not that kind of page.

The Details

Arden Myrin
September 15-17, Thursday and Friday, 10 p.m.; Saturday, 8 and 10 p.m.
$40-$60, Palms Lounge, 944-3200

The comedian known for appearing on MadTV and Chelsea Lately really did grow up in Little Compton, Rhode Island (named for somewhere in England, not California) before heading to Chicago to join Improv Olympic and hone her onstage skills. During the 2008 presidential election Myrin put those talents to work for MadTV—along with a bouffant that would make Snooki feel low-profile—playing “gift from the comedy gods” Cindy McCain on gift from the ratings gods Dancing with the Stars.

These days the former Mrs. McCain is working on a comedy project for MTV titled Bottomfeeders with Fred Savage—that is, when she’s not performing at the Palms for Playboy Comedy. Perhaps we’ll even get a glimpse of that two-stepping bouffant. As Myrin once asked, “Who doesn’t want to be Cindy McCain forever?”
