‘Absinthe’ still flowing (and thrilling) at Caesars

Like its alcohol-nipping co-host, Absinthe at Caesars Palace continues to chug away. The best little show on the Strip will return for what is expected to be a yearlong stay at Roman Plaza beginning October 21. What to look for in the new Absinthe production, staged in Vegas by BASE Entertainment and Spiegelworld:
• New skaters. It’s bye-bye Skating Aratas, who have spun off to V—The Ultimate Variety Show at Planet Hollywood’s V Theater. The dizzying act will remain in the show, but with new stars, says BASE co-chief executive officer Scott Zeiger.
• A new tent. The 100-year-old Spiegeltent used in the original six-month production has been packed up (sucker couldn’t take the wind and rain). In its place will be a larger, reinforced tent that will still embrace such old-world charms as mirrored panels, chandeliers, wooden chairs (seating a little less than 600 spectators) and high-backed booths.
• A larger, indoor lobby. The Absinthe “campus” will be primarily indoors. The space has been reconceived as an entirely indoor experience.
• Familiar faces: Aside from the Aratas, the cast will remain intact, with Gazillionaire, Penny, the Esteemed Gentlemen of the High Wire, and Vegas’ top topless bubble dancer Angel Porrino all returning.
