The Details
- Grapes & Hops Festival
- October 1, 5-9 p.m., $35 or $60 for two in advance, $40 at the door, $75 for VIP
- Springs Preserve, 822-7700
Sure, you could spend an afternoon wandering through Springs Preserve, enjoying the desert landscaping and the end of the 100-plus-degree heat. But no one will be offering you a glass of chardonnay on your way past that cactus, and we can all appreciate the importance of staying hydrated. Instead, head to the preserve Saturday evening to take in the space by dark at the second annual Grapes & Hops Festival. The charity tasting event offers samples of various beers and wines spread throughout the landscape, along with bites from local restaurants like Mon Ami Gabi and Strip Burger and air-conditioned seating for anyone who springs for the VIP entrance. Ticket sales benefit Par for the Cure, a breast cancer research organization, so you can rest easy knowing that all that booze you’re downing isn’t just ’cause you’re so damn thirsty.
