A night out with the performers

Image

Sherry St. Germain & the Vanguards perform Saturday nights in the The Lounge at the Palms.

On Saturday, my friend Mackly played a gig at Urban Grill. He was backing up blues/funk/neo-soul singer John Anthony, along with Tiffani Brooks and Yvonne Silva. After the gig, the girls told Mackly that he had to be at the Palms Lounge at 11. And Mackly, in turn, told me.

Thank God. Best live music I’ve heard in Vegas since Steve Martin played the Mirage. And you know Sherry St. Germain is good, because everyone in her audience is a performer, too. It was one of those old-school Vegas nights, where the person onstage encourages the patrons (e.g., Frankie Moreno—not to be confused with Frank Marino) to stand up and do a song. And they all do. Head to the Palms and visit Sherry soon. A town like Vegas is too small to hold a voice this big.
