Celebrity chefs at sea: ‘Top Chef’ sets sail
Tue, Aug 14, 2012 (noon)
No word yet on whether Tom Colicchio will take you scuba diving.
The aptly named Celebrity Constellation, a big, luxurious boat, will host the inaugural "Top Chef: The Cruise," launching in April 2013 from Miami with stops in Key West and Cozumel, Mexico. Bravo Media, Celebrity Cruises, Magical Elves and Rose Tours announced today the collaborative creation of the culinary voyage, which offers fans of the Emmy-winning cooking competition show the chance to mingle and, of course, eat with the show's judges and chefs, including hosts Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons.
This could be your chance to take part in interactive "quickfire" cooking challenges with past cheftestants—on a boat. Other demonstrations and question-and-answer sessions will fill your activity schedule, and the ship's culinary offerings will be conceived by a James Beard-featured chef, according to the press release.
“The incredibly engaged fans of Bravo’s Top Chef are in for a one-of-a-kind and personal opportunity with 'Top Chef: The Cruise,'” said Ellen Stone, Bravo's senior vice president of marketing, in the release. Joining Colicchio and Simmons are chefs from past seasons of Top Chef, Top Chef Masters and Top Chef Just Desserts, including Tim Love, Jennifer Carroll, Tiffany Derry, Michael Isabella, Spike Mendelsohn, Hosea Rosenberg, Angelo Sosa and Casey Thompson, and a few chefs with Vegas connections, including Hubert Keller and Chris Hanmer.
Cruise reservations will be available starting August 16, at topchefthecruise.com.
